AAONYX -- Pronounced just like it sounds, A - ON - IX.
AAONYX is an homage to the eternity of stone. Formed millions of years ago, these precious items will be here long after we are gone. The Greek word for eternity is AION, AEON, or EON. The ancient Greek word for night is NYX, so AAONYX is the eternal night. Stones don't age, tarnish, or decay, so in some ways, they've figured out something we haven't.
I'm Father Dimitri and I'm a Greek Orthodox priest. For me, creating jewelry is one of the ways in which I get to express my love of and appreciation for the world that God has given us; it's my creative way of thanking Him for the earth's incredible beauty. Stones, trees, and mountains are very much alive, and I created AAONYX jewelry so that we could share in their richness and life. Gemstones have been used from the beginning of civilization to convey greater meaning to one's life; I'm just giving it my own spin.
25% of the profit will be donated to two charities present all over the globe, 'International Orthodox Christian Charities' (IOCC), where I worked before entering the priesthood; as well as 'Orthodox Christian Mission Center' (OCMC).
